Our kookaburra sits on my mother's old Elna - a superb machine that she bought secondhand when she became engaged to my father in the 1950s. My father says it was the "Rolls Royce" of sewing machines in its day. That must be true because I still use it to this day - most recently, to sew masks in the early stages of Covid. The fabric is a piece of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie cloth, designed by May Gibbs. A trousseau is a collection of clothes, linen, and other belongings collected by a bride for her marriage.
